The Elsy Hub

The Elsy Hub is our home base—a relaxed, welcoming space where participants can drop in, hang out, and feel part of the Elsy community. It’s where you’ll meet for our group programs and the go-to spot for our social events.
You’ll also find our leadership team here most days. They’re always up for a chat, so pop in, say hello, and stay for a coffee.

Important Information

Please note from 2024, given the cost of our sessions all Elsy programs will be drop off and pick up only. Participants will be supported by Elsy support workers during the program.

Inclusivity & Access

You don’t have to be with Elsy to join the fun! A few times a year, we open our social events to anyone who’d like to come along. Whether you’re curious about what we do, coming with a support worker, or tagging along with family, we’d love to see you.

Taster Sessions

Thinking about joining one of our groups? Come along for a free taster session! You’re welcome to bring a support worker, family member or friend. It's a no-pressure way to meet the group and see if Elsy feels right for you.

NDIS Workshops at Sixth Street Cafe

Our NDIS Workshops at Sixth Street Cafe are growing, and growing. On Tuesdays and Wednesdays we have Art Classes with our incredible Art Teacher Alison Walker from 10am-2pm. On Fridays it’s our TGIF Socials – picnics, trips, socials, gaming movies – and more! with new friends and old!Getting started with ELSY is easy! Here’s what to expect when you reach out to us.

NDIS Workshops at The Elsy Hub

Life Skills

This workshop aims towards ensuring clients are working towards achieving basic life skills they will be essential for their independence.

Hours of Operation

9am – 3pm (adjustable pending on group numbers and session demands)

Barista Classes

To teach clients who are interested in making coffee and possibly gaining a Certificate II to be able to move to paid employment. Working towards paid shifts at the Sixth Street Café and partner cafes in the local area.

Cooking Classes

Basic cooking skills, with crossing over to learning how to read recipes, grocery shop within a budget and following safe food handling guidelines. A small fee of $5 would need to be introduced to pay for ingredients for the class.

Money Handling / Budgeting Classes

To teach clients basic money handling skills and being able to apply it everyday life. Being able to capacity build with clients to be able to budget everyday expenses and show ways to save money.

Reading / Writing / Literacy Classes

To assist clients if identified goals and source materials are provided to improve their literacy, reading writing and numeracy skills. Or to look to facilitate a session with a trained tutor to help clients with this aspect.

Social Skills

The Social Skills workshop aims towards allowing clients to make social connections within social groups in the community. Allow clients to access new parts of the community they may not have previously known about or may have had barriers accessing.

Social Group Day

To have a weekly social group that attends organized activities with support. To focus on capacity building for the clients to plan these outings to be able to use public transportation, budget money for the activity, find new activities to access in the community and to be able to work towards independently attending the outings.

Social Group Night

The premise will be the same as the day group instead in the evening.

Weekend Outings Group

For clients to work towards capacity to attend larger scale events such as the Royal Easter Show, NRL games or common interests they may want to engage with.

Dog Caring Group

Working towards being paid dog minders and walkers.

Creativity Skills

The Creativity Skills workshop aims towards clients to work towards creative expression and being able to build social confidence to work on interacting with other clients and support workers.

Acting Group

To assist clients in wanting to build their confidence, social skills and to be able to interact with one another on a new level. To allow more creative expression.

To build a local community group for clients to work together to build confidence and capacity to work as a team.

Instrumental Lessons

To be organized with a teacher.

Dancing Group

To be organized with a teacher.

Arts & Crafts Group

To assist clients in building a new skill or skills to use and to gain more social skills. Working towards creating items for sale for our Christmas fair

Busking Group

To create an environment for the clients to feel safe and to explore music in a different style. To build social connections with people sharing the same interests.

Media Skills

The Media Skills workshop aims towards building new skills and building a social group for clients to be able to meet outside of supported services and independently discuss topics.

Anime Group

To have a group to be review and discuss the medium of Japanese anime and or other variations of anime. To discuss the designs and recreate anime as an arts project.

Movie Group

To go through various decades of movies to build social connections in movie interests and build new friendships.

Gaming Group

To review various versions of gaming mediums such as board games, card games, video games. To build new connections for the clients to socialize outside of supported services.

Computer Literacy Group

To assist clients in being able to show them computer basic literacy skills to be able to access emails, send emails, using various software programs and budgeting for purchase of a computer.

Designing and Broadcast

Using canva on our media PCs, using iphones to create social media posts, blogging content and artwork working towards creating paid work.

Employment Pathways

(Coming Soon)

This workshop aims to turn interests into sources of employment. We have an embryonic programme which takes interests and looks for avenues to monetise these to assist participants with their life goals. This will build over time into broader opportunities based on client feedback.
