About the NDIS

Not sure what the NDIS is about? Here is a quick overview of the scheme and what it means for you.

What is the NDIS

The National Disability Insurance Scheme is called the NDIS. It’s the way for individuals with permanent and significant disability under the age of 65 to get the care and supports they need.

The NDIS funds individuals to get the support they need to take part in everyday activities.

If you are eligible, we can help you work out what reasonable and necessary supports you need to live your life and achieve your goals. You’ll then receive funding to pay for these supports.

Find more information on the NDIS website.

What supports can you receive through the NDIS?

The NDIS provides funding for lots of different things!

It could be accommodation, support with activities at home and in the community, and much much more.

You will get to choose when and where you receive these supports and which disability service providers you work with. ELSY specialises in Supported Independent Living (SIL) Care and Housing and Community Supports.

Help to apply for NDIS

If you don’t have your NDIS plan yet, we can help you apply and get ready for your planning meeting.

ELSY knows that the NDIS can be confusing.

What supports are covered? What is ‘reasonable and necessary’? How do you set goals? What supports will you need?

Lots of questions. Let’s get to some answers.

If you don’t have your NDIS plan yet, we can also help you find out if you’re eligible, put together the documents and information you need, and help you apply.

Help to prepare for your NDIS planning meeting

Once you apply for the NDIS, you will have an NDIS planning meeting before you receive your NDIS plan.

This meeting will be with an NDIA planner or a Local Area Coordinator (LAC). A LAC is someone from an organisation who has partnered with the NDIA.

Before this meeting, have a think about what you want to get out of it.

Think about who you are, what is important to you, what supports you currently have, and how you want your life to be. ELSY can help you work through this and hopefully think bigger! Living Cool (LC) is about creating new goals and aspirations and bringing more learning care and smiles to your life.

ELSY can also help you talk about the goals the NDIS might cover, and what supports you would like included in your plan.
